San Diego Beer Week 2026: The Food Lover's Way In
Ten days, no festival, no pass, no single ticket to buy. San Diego Beer Week 2026 belongs to the taprooms — and if you go in hungry, with a plan, it is the best eating week of the fall.
Here is the first thing to unlearn about Beer Week this year: there is no main event. For years the Guild's big festival sat inside the week like an anchor. Not anymore. The festival — now called the Capital of Craft Beer Festival — already happened, on September 19 at Broadway Pier, on purpose. The Guild wanted its breweries home staffing their own parties instead of pouring at a festival tent.
So what is left? Everything else. From Friday, November 6 through Sunday, November 15, breweries, bars and restaurants across the county run their own events, at their own prices, on their own terms. That sounds messier than a festival. It is. It is also better, if you like food — because a taproom party lives or dies on what is on the table next to the glass.
What Is San Diego Beer Week 2026?
The short version: a ten-day, county-wide celebration of independent San Diego beer, run by the San Diego Brewers Guild. The Guild is a volunteer-led nonprofit founded in 1997, and the region counts more than 150 independent craft beer makers. Beer Week itself launched in 2009.
The part that trips everyone up: there is no pass or wristband this year, and no central festival to buy into. Each venue sets its own rules. Some events are free to walk into. Some need advance tickets. Some are already sold out. The Guild's own events page was still showing "Coming Soon" in mid-October, so the reliable move is checking each brewery's own page — which is exactly what this guide is built from.
And yes, the timing collides with everything else: the San Diego Food + Wine Festival's Grand Weekend runs November 6–8, the same opening weekend. If you are choosing between them, this post is your Beer Week case. (We already made the Food + Wine case — read that one before you pick a side.)
The Week Ahead: November 2–8, Day by Day
Before Beer Week even starts, the week has a shape. Here is how it stacks up:
- Today, Sunday, November 1: the International Food & Music Festival wraps at Embarcadero Marina Park North, turning from Halloween Saturday toward Día de los Muertos. Free entry, 50+ vendors, and your last shot at the cheapest world tour in town.
- Thursday, November 5: the warm-up. Pure Project marks International Stout Day a day early at all five taprooms, with $5 pints of Milagro, its nitro dry stout, and a rum barrel-aged stout release.
- Friday, November 6: Beer Week opens. Pure Project's kickoff toast hits at 7 p.m. at every taproom, and Blind Lady Ale House in Normal Heights opens its Beer Week run with guest taps. Meanwhile, Food + Wine's Icons + Legends party opens its own weekend across town.
- Saturday, November 7: the Grand Tasting takes the waterfront for Food + Wine — and Beer Week keeps pouring in the taprooms. Pick one. Seriously. Trying to do both in one day is how you end up tasting nothing.
- Sunday, November 8: the food pick of the opening weekend. Pure Project pairs three doughnuts from The Goods in Carlsbad with three 5-ounce beers, noon to 4 p.m., $29 plus tax — but only if you buy online in advance and pick your taproom at checkout.
The Food-First Picks, November 9–15
The second week is where Beer Week stops being a beer list and starts being a dinner plan:
- Monday, November 9: Keep the Glass at Pure Project North Park — $18 gets an anniversary glass and a fill of any non-barrel-aged beer under 10% ABV. The series runs November 9–13 across Pure's taprooms, with dates varying by location, so confirm yours.
- Tuesday, November 10, 6–7:30 p.m.: the CheeseSmith & AleSmith pairing at AleSmith in Miramar. Owner and cheesemaker Peter Zien leads it. Tickets are limited, and the listing did not show a price when we checked — which usually means "check now, not later."
- Wednesday, November 11: Mike Hess Brewing's Keep the Pint Night at its San Diego tasting rooms, including North Park. A $10 pint, and you keep the glass. Simple. Good.
- Thursday–Saturday, November 12–14: the big one. AleSmith's Speedway Grand Prix, which the brewery calls "a San Diego Beer Week tradition." Free admission, no RSVP, more than a dozen Speedway Stout variations, food vendors on site, racing games, and tasting Laps of 4-ounce pours with a collectible glass at $20 for four, $35 for eight, or $50 for twelve. Hours are 5–10 p.m. Thursday and Friday, noon–5 p.m. Saturday.
- Friday, November 13: Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens in Escondido spends its last day under the Stone name — the founders plan to reopen it under a new name. Live music runs there daily November 7–12, and the photobooth popup runs 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on the final day. Go say goodbye properly.
- Friday–Sunday, November 13–15: Stone Brewing Tap Room – Kettner downtown celebrates its 13th anniversary weekend with live music and "Lucky 13" beer specials.
- Sunday, November 15: Stout Sunday closes Beer Week at all Pure Project taprooms. A stout to finish a stout week. Fitting.
How to Do Beer Week Without a Ticket (or a Meltdown)
One neighborhood per day. North Park is the walkable one — roughly ten breweries, mostly along 30th Street. Miramar has more than 17 breweries and tasting rooms and is not walkable between stops. Do not try to "do Miramar" on foot. You will learn this the hard way once.
Eat first, then taste. This is the whole food-lover's edge. A tasting flight on an empty stomach at 5 p.m. ends your night by 7. The doughnut pairing, the cheese pairing, the Grand Prix food vendors — build the day around the food event, and let the pours follow it.
Sort the ride before the first pour. The trolley covers downtown, Little Italy and Old Town, but it does not reach North Park, Normal Heights or Miramar — bus or rideshare there. In North County, the SPRINTER links Oceanside, Vista, San Marcos and Escondido. Bring ID. Everything here is 21+.
The DishCue Angle: Tag What You Eat, Not Just What You Drink
Here is the honest gap: as of this morning, the DishCue app does not have a single brewery taproom dish tagged. No Speedway-night plate, no taproom pizza, nothing. Beer Week food is happening in rooms full of people who will forget what they ate by Tuesday. That is exactly the problem DishCue exists to solve.
The closest thing the app has right now is the beer-week food canon — the dishes San Diegans actually reach for next to a pint. Two of them are already tagged, and both are worth the detour:
The Goopfellas Pizza @ Goop Kitchen, Carmel Valley
Pizza is the taproom's best friend and everybody knows it. This one already carries a Thumbs Up from the community, and it is the kind of shareable, one-hand-while-holding-a-glass plate that Beer Week runs on.
👍 Thumbs Up ×1 · 🥗 Healthy ×1
Birria Taco @ Mike's Red Tacos, Mira Mesa
Crispy, dunkable, built for a beer in the other hand. The Mira Mesa shop is the San Diego-born brand's home turf, and this taco is the one the community already stamped Must Try. Eat it before the Grand Prix, not after — your judgment about "one more Lap" will thank you.
⭐ Must Try ×1 · 👍 Thumbs Up ×1
Neither is a Beer Week special, and I am not pretending otherwise. They are the bridge: the tagged San Diego dishes that prove the point. The first person to tag an actual Beer Week taproom plate — a Grand Prix food-vendor special, a cheese-pairing bite, a doughnut from Sunday — gets to be the one the rest of us copy next year. That is a better souvenir than a pint glass.
San Diego Beer Week FAQs
When is San Diego Beer Week 2026?
Friday, November 6 through Sunday, November 15, 2026, at breweries, bars and restaurants across San Diego County. The San Diego Brewers Guild runs it, and Beer Week launched in 2009.
Is there a central San Diego Beer Week festival or pass in 2026?
No. The Guild's big festival, now called the Capital of Craft Beer Festival, moved out of the November window and already happened on September 19 at Broadway Pier. No pass or wristband is advertised — each venue runs its own events and sets its own prices.
What are the best food events during San Diego Beer Week 2026?
The food-first picks: Pure Project's doughnut-and-beer pairing on Sunday, November 8 ($29 plus tax, advance purchase only); AleSmith's CheeseSmith pairing on Tuesday, November 10; and AleSmith's Speedway Grand Prix November 12–14, with free admission, food vendors on site, and tasting Laps at $20, $35 or $50.
Do you need tickets for San Diego Beer Week events?
It depends on the venue. Some events are free to walk into with paid tastings, like AleSmith's Speedway Grand Prix. Others need advance purchase, like Pure Project's doughnut pairing. Check the venue's own page before you go — there is no single Beer Week ticket.
Is San Diego Beer Week 21+?
Yes, effectively. These are beer events at breweries and bars, so bring a valid ID and plan on 21-and-older entry at ticketed events.
How should I plan a San Diego Beer Week crawl?
Pick one neighborhood per day — North Park is the walkable one, Miramar is not walkable between stops. Eat first, pace the tastings, and use a bus or rideshare in North Park and Miramar, where the trolley does not reach. And never drive after drinking.
